Angers – a great place to live!
Angers is a young city with nearly 40,000 students. The town is regularly mentioned in the press for its quality of life.
It has over 150,000 inhabitants, which makes it the 18th most populated town in France. For a number of years now Angers has made a clear commitment to sustainable development and it offers numerous activities contributing to the well-being of students: theatre and dance shows at Le Quai, concerts at Le Chabada, Terra Botanica plant-themed amusement park…
Angers is also particularly open to the world: it was chosen by China to host a Confucius Institute and it is renowned for its many historical sites. In fact the whole Loire Valley has been listed on the UNESCO’s World Heritage list since 2000.
In addition, the wide choice of student accommodation available, whether privately-owned or provided by the university makes Angers the perfect place to stay!

Angers – a great place to study!
The University of Angers offers 435 diplomas in every key discipline.
It started very early on creating quite original career-oriented courses. Today UA is the educational institution that has the highest number of vocational bachelor’s degrees in Western France. It is well established in the local region and works in close partnership with its socio-economic partners. With over 300 international partners across the globe and an ever-growing list of dual degrees, the University of Angers has a definite international dimension.
The University of Angers makes every effort to help its 24,000 students achieve academic success and find employment. For several years now it has had the highest pass rate in France for 3-year bachelor’s degree courses, thanks to its lecturers and researchers and to the measures implemented in favour of high school and university students.
At high school level the University of Angers has created a full package of measures to support future students in their training choices and foster their integration and success during their first year at university. UA is also working hard to guide its students when taking their first steps in higher education (through tutoring programmes, small-group work, continuous assessment…) and to help them with extra-curricular tasks (thanks to the InfoCampus desk where student advisors provide information on transport, accommodation, grants, etc.)
The Ip’Oline platform allows access to internships and job offers, as well as networking with other students, alumni, teachers and businesses. This approach clearly works since UA boasts a 90% employability rate 30 months after graduation.

Angers – a great place to thrive!
The University of Angers is a human-size university with a quality infrastructure and a living environment that promote student success. Of all university libraries in France, UA’s library is
among the ones with the most extensive opening hours, including on Sundays. UA also offers a large number of various activities: exhibitions, concerts, University Creative Festival, Culture Card. Student involvement is encouraged too, thanks to our Vice-President for Students who supports a variety of organisations using a specific support fund.
Furthermore UA students are lucky to have access to over 4000 m2 dedicated to sports (with more than 55 art and sports activities), which is everything they need to feel good and keep in shape!
Considering all these positive aspects, it’s no surprise that Angers has become the place to be, as evidenced by various city rankings published in the public media. For instance, Angers has been ranked 1st in France for “Best City to Study” by L’Étudiant magazine, due in part to its good results in terms of academic training and student life.
